Choosing the Right Blind for Your Home

When it comes to choosing the right blinds for your home, there are so many things to think about! It’s not just about choosing the blinds that look great, but also that give the functionality you need. In this quick and helpful guide, we share some considerations and tips for choosing the perfect blinds for your space, to help the decision-making process go as smoothly and easily as possible. Of course, if you need any more help or guidance, our team is on hand to help!

It’s important to consider three things first: budget, functionality, and looks. These are three really important things which will determine what you need and are looking for from your blind.

You may be looking for a blind for a child’s bedroom, in which case one with a blackout lining would be ideal. Or, you might be looking to find a blind to suit your living room, so a standout pattern to fit in with the decor and style is key. Or, you might be looking for something super simple to fit in a utility room window, in which case something more basic and affordable may be ideal.

Once you have these things in mind, you can then look at determining the style best suited for your space.

Styles

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are one of the most popular choices, thanks to their versatility and simplicity! Ideal for smaller windows, like bathrooms and utility rooms, as well as rooms in need of more privacy, they can come in a huge range of colours, styles and designs to suit whatever space and decor you have.

Roller blinds can come in a wide selection of coloured and patterned fabrics, (including fabrics from our pattern books!) and are also available in wipe cleanable, moisture resistant, and black-out. We recommend roller blinds for bedrooms, bathrooms, and smaller windows.

Roman Blinds

When looking to add a little more style, luxury and warmth to a room, Roman Blinds come in perfectly. Another popular choice, Roman Blinds are ideal for communal and cosy spaces, and we recommend them for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms too.

Matching your Roman Blinds with your curtains is a simple way to make your room look ‘done’, and is a great way to introduce colour or pattern to an otherwise plain decor!

Venetian Blinds

Less decorative but allowing better control of the light, Venetian Blinds are a really stylish way to add both light and privacy to a room. With full control over the position of slats and the length of the blind, Venetian blinds help filter the light coming in, taking advantage of the natural lighting.

Venetian Blinds are lightweight and robust and can come in wood or aluminium. We recommend Venetian Blinds for bathrooms, kitchens, sunrooms and conservatories.

Vertical Blinds

Again, less decorative than some other options, Vertical Blinds give you much better control of the light and privacy. When looking to fill larger floor-to-ceiling windows, Vertical Blinds are an ideal solution.

Similar to curtains, but giving you more control of the light, Vertical Blinds are another popular choice for light and airy spaces. They are ideal for making the most of that light in rooms like living rooms and conservatories.
