How does Milners design service work?

Are you considering redesigning a space in your home? Helping our clients transform their home is one of our favourite things to do and we understand that it represents an investment and how important it is to achieve your perfect design.

But what is involved in our design process? If you have never considered an Interior Design service before, we are sharing our process, one that has helped countless clients achieve their dream interiors!

It all starts with a visit

Whether you have already started brainstorming your design (and have the Pinterest boards to show for it!) or if you are looking to be inspired, we feel that the process works best when we can meet and discuss your project. Our Interiors department is abundant with fabric swatches, wallpaper, and paint collections as well as a huge range of flooring - all there for you to explore at leisure.

During your visit, one of our expert interior team will help you to find the collections that best suit your style. We carry a range of leading interior brands including Little Greene Paint, Clarke & Clarke, William Morris and Sanderson. As you browse we will be as heavily or as lightly involved as you feel comfortable, until you are ready to sit down with us and start discussing the details. We are also happy for you to take samples and books home free of charge so that you can get a feel for them in the space you are wanting to design.

Discussing your design priorities

Every interior project we work on is bespoke to brief and is based on an in-depth conversation about what your design priorities are. We like to ensure we have a thorough understanding of your design goals, whether that is to achieve higher energy efficiency with great quality drapery, create a show-stopping focal point in a room, make better use of your space or all of the above! Importantly we will also look to understand your budget so we can suggest the collections and services best suited to you.

Scoping your space

With our bespoke service, it is really important that we can see the space we will be redesigning with a home visit. This means we can get a clear idea of how you currently use the space and other considerations that will help us to make practical suggestions whilst respecting your project budget. During these visits, we will ask you questions to help define the project brief as well as measure up so we are able to provide a project quote.

Project quote

Following our home visit we will create a comprehensive no-obligation quote for your project. This quote will include costs for material and labour and is produced transparently so you understand how your budget has been allocated. We understand that things can change which is why we like to follow up with a call or in-person meeting where we can discuss the final details and any adjustments that might need to be made.

The work begins!

Once you are ready to go ahead with your design work we will get to work ordering in materials. Depending on the project this might be paints, fabrics, flooring, wallpaper, or all of the above! Our talented seamstress will also start working her upholstery magic on everything from pillows and cushions to curtains and drapes.

Fitting and finishing

Our talented team of fitters will book a date that is convenient for you to work on the fitting and finishing of your room. Our team looks to do this in a way that causes the least disruption in your home and we will always ensure the work is carried out to the highest standard. This includes steaming curtains and plumping pillows, and we will also be on hand to advise on how best to care for the products you have chosen so you can get the greatest lifespan possible.

Aftercare

As a small business, we know the importance of customer service and that includes following up after any project to make sure our clients are delighted with the end results. If there ever is a snagging issue, we will come out promptly to resolve this. We feel strongly that this level of service is one of the reasons for the ongoing relationships we have with our clients and why they trust us time and again to create the interior of their dreams!
