Is it time to refresh your front door colour?

Did you know research shows (Ideal Home) that a fresh lick of paint to your front door could add as much as £4,000 to the property value?

Even if you are not considering a move in the near future, a beautifully painted door can increase the curb appeal and make you smile when you come home after a long day!

Choosing the finish

When considering painting your door, you need to make sure that the paint you choose can weather the elements. Little Greene Paints offer two options that are ideal for outdoor use, Intelligent Exterior Eggshell or Traditional Oil Gloss.

Intelligent Exterior Eggshell

Intelligent Exterior Eggshell is perfect if you are looking for a modern matte finish without compromising on the durability of the paint. A real plus of this finish is that it is self-priming, which means that you don't need to spend extra time priming when painting over previously painted surfaces. It is also washable, so no mucky hand prints (or paw prints) or unsightly marks spoiling your door aesthetic. This intelligent paint system is also weather resistant and won't split and crack as other outdoor paints do. Perfect for the changeable Yorkshire weather.

Traditional Oil Gloss

If you love that luxe high gloss look, Little Greene’s Traditional Oil Gloss finish is the only choice. It has a gorgeous high-shine finish that really pops especially on sunny days. Formulated using naturally occurring vegetable oils it is a great choice for environmentally conscious DIYers and its high pigmentation means a little goes a long way.

Picking your perfect shade

Once you have decided on the finish best suited for your door the fun begins with picking a colour. We have picked out some of our favourite shades from statement-making bold hues to something a little more sophisticated.

Mister David™

Mister David is the quintessential English mustard shade. It looks great contrasted with brick and stonework and quite literally brings the sunshine to your home!

Orange Aurora™

Orange Aurora is a beautiful orange/coral shade and looks stunning when paired with cream paintwork.

Sage & Onions™

This vivid green shade has a literary past and is an exact colour match to the garden gate at Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s farm in the Lake District, which features in The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck!

Tea with Florence™

Tea with Florence is inspired by the highlight of Claydon House in Buckinghamshire, the Chinese Room. It is characteristic of the Chinoiserie decorative style and is linked to the love of drinking tea. Now that’s the inspiration we can get on board with!

Bronze Red ®

This shade makes us think of rustic barn doors and gorgeous farmhouses. Red is considered a timeless Victorian shade and this colour was taken from a late 19th-century book of paint colours so it has an incredible pedigree.

Portland Stone - Dark™

This shade sits beautifully between grey and green and when used in a matte finish is the perfect twist of modern and traditional exterior aesthetics.
