With June just around the corner, we’re not far off the half way point of 2025 (a tad scary we know😬), so we thought we’d let you know what’s been happening in the shop and with the team since January!
Top Floor Revamp
If you follow our socials, you may already know that our first month of 2025 was a bit of a hectic one! We completed a full refurbishment of the top floor, meaning that while the work was carried out, Leonie, Lauren and Phoebe relocated their ‘office’ to the basement, along with the kitchen essentials (primarily the kettle so that cups of tea were still flowing), and a very glamorous portable camping toilet!!
It was worth all of the upheaval in the end, as by the end of February we had a much more inviting and comfortable space for our staff to both work and spend their breaks in.

Phoebe’s Sustainability Course
After we made the Milners building more energy efficient with the top floor refurb and addition of solar panels, Phoebe then attended a two day course at Swinton where she got stuck into planting trees, and learning about global warming in conjunction with small businesses and their contribution.
Phoebe is now confidently coming to our Wednesday morning staff meetings armed with the means to educate us and spark conversations on how to be kinder to our environment, both as a business and as individuals!
New Haberdashery Brand
For the creative ones amongst you; in March we added another lovely brand to our needlecraft kit collections. The Crafty Kit Company has one simple mission: to spread the joy of crafting! And when their kits come with everything you need, from the felting needles to the clear instructions, it’s super easy for everyone to get involved no matter what your sewing abilities are!
SS25 Shoot
In March we had the lovely Maisy from Purple Creative Studio come over to the Leyburn Shawl (we’re very lucky to be in the Dales where picturesque scenery is always a stone’s throw away!), equipped with her camera to get some professional shots of our SS25 womenswear.
We try to fit a photoshoot in with Maisy once a season, mainly because it’s super helpful for our marketing duo to have some fab up to date photos of the staff, shop and products. But it’s also a nice way for the team to get out of the office together and have a bit of a giggle!
It’s been a nice, busy 5 months for us at Milners, and we’re looking forward to what the latter half of the year will bring! If any higher power happens to be reading this: we would be very grateful for new exciting interior projects and a bustling, busy Leyburn market place..plus a tea caddy that magically itself refills with teabags..OH! and plenty of sunshine! 😇
